2021 So Far And A Re-introduction
Hello, this is my first post of 2021 ! Apologies for not posting between December 2020 and now, I had intended to do some posts before now but you know how things have been, wherever you are in the world, the last half a year has been difficult, so I hope you can forgive my lack of posts this year.
Just to re-introduce myself, I am Natasha, a Film and Television studies degree graduate (and unemployed, I was an essential store worker during last years lockdown but I am not anymore, currently seeking employment, ideally in film or television but that work is hard to get). I am a 20-something from the UK and obviously, I love film.
Since I last posted anything, when we were in tier 4, in this country we have gone into full lockdown (which happened over Christmas and new year time) and come partly out of it (rules started lifting in March and its now July but there is still a lot of rules in place). In May, after over 6 months of being completely closed, our cinemas were allowed to re-open. However, it is still distanced and in masks, along with hand sanitizer use and NHS track-and-trace, so cinema trips are still not back to normal. Some premieres have started again, but without stars coming here from the U.S and without a public red carpet area. Some shows with restrictions have started up again. I personally haven't attended any shows or events, like I usually would. Luckily, most of my events have been postponed or cancelled (mostly drag shows, a few concerts and I was due to fly to The Netherlands for Eurovision this year, I had tickets and a whole holiday booked originally for 2020 but moved to 2021 and now I'm not sure whats happening), I'm glad this is the case though, because I would still be afraid of going to any events.
Luckily also, I have been vaccinated (only half though, I'm awaiting my second) and most of my family have been half vaccinated too. Also a bit of good news, my baby niece was born this year, so I am now an aunt.
Thats enough re-introduction, back to the point of the blog. I have this year got Disney Plus, which has allowed me to watch many Disney films I never saw growing up and the chance to watch new content, like Marvels phase 4 (I will do a seperate post about what I have watched in lockdown at home, much to mention).
Additionally, with cinemas re-opening, I have visited a few times (they have been so quiet), and have seen Cruella (Craig Gillespie, 2021), In The Heights (Jon M Chu, 2021) and A Quiet Place Part Two (John Krasinski, 2021). I will do posts on my opinions soon on these.
Thank you for reading.
